Aromas da Villa products are produced following the good manufacturing practices ISO 22716:2007 (Cosmetics - Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) - Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practices). 
 
We follow the December 2017 "Guidelines for small-scale cosmetics production" by CEARTE and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra.
 
Our soaps are notified to the European Commission, in accordance with numbers 1 to 8 of article 13 of Regulation 1223/2009, through the CPNP portal (Cosmetic Products Notification Portal) and the necessary records are made in INFARMED .

AROMAS DA VILLA soaps are 100% natural and safe. Sodium hydroxide is required to make the soap, but it is neutralized and disappears in the final product, so all other ingredients are natural, so the product is considered natural.
 
AROMAS DA VILLA uses cold saponification as its artisanal manufacturing method, a chemical reaction that combines extra virgin olive oil (a vegetable oil) with a water-soluble base (sodium hydroxide). This element is consumed after the manufacturing process, so its concentration in the final product is negligible and safe, as shown by several safety assessment studies. As an added safety measure, our soaps are cured for 4 weeks before being placed on the market. 
 
For example, sodium hydroxide is used to make drugs (aspirins) and as a food additive, with US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (http://www.fda.gov/Food/IngredientsPackagingLabeling/FoodAdditivesIngredients/ucm091048 .htm)accepts its presence if the concentration is less than <1%.
